God created each of us uniquely. God created us with different capabilities and personalities. God deposited in us what we will need to exist on this earth. We are different people and each one of us contributes a different thing to our immediate world. Life’s journey is about discovering the capital God placed in you to work with till you leave earth. I believe the capital God put in you, is your purpose on earth. You will never be content and live a fulfilled life if you are not doing what God created you to do. When you find your purpose in God then you develop clear ideas about your inner values, core beliefs and opinions, so that you don’t allow your emotions to be externally dictated by other things that are not of God.

I believe you discover your purpose by taking note of the desires in your heart. Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. NKJV. This verse tells us to find our happiness in the Lord. This means that as we spend time with God and have a relationship with Him, then His desires become our desires. Since we know Him (God) we will not ask for things outside His will. When we ask for things in His will, He will grant them to us. And we shall be able to fulfill our God given purposes on earth.

The key in life is finding your purpose on earth. I believe once you have found your purpose on earth, then it can be expressed differently in different seasons in your life. That is why it is important to spend lots of time with God, listening to His guidance on what you should be doing. As you listen to God, get into new environments and be around people then you are inspired to express your purpose in different ways to benefit the people around you.

Oscar Wilde said “to love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance”. While you are away by yourself or while you are writing in your quite time, always ask yourself questions. These questions will lead you to discover your purpose better. Questions like; what activities do I enjoy doing? , what makes my heart sing? , what keeps me excited? , what inspires me? , what annoys me? Once you answer those questions then you can discover your purpose in life and then you can develop your core values around your purpose. Remember all your desires where put in you by God to give you a clue to why he created you.

Last year, I asked myself the above questions and I was able to discover my purpose in life, which is to educate people by sharing knowledge that will unlock their lives to reach their full potential. My effort is now geared towards learning so I can help as many people as possible. Therefore I am always eager to teach someone something that will challenge them to be better people.  However some people fear to ask themselves the above questions may be because they don’t want to come face to face with who they really are or may be they have been told to suppress the desires in their hearts or maybe they are too busy and stressed that they don’t get time to be still and listen to God speak to them.

I encourage you to get beyond those road blocks to finding your purpose because there is a lot more about you. You are a wonderful package of good qualities which you need to mine out. Discovering your purpose also involves making a list of all your best personal qualities. This will help you know that you are of great value. Now your purpose can also be expressed in all these qualities towards different people. I have already written down fifty positive things about myself.

I believe our speech should be in line with our purpose. We need to encourage ourselves more than we criticize ourselves. Let the speech you direct towards you be pleasant on a daily basis. Don’t be harsh towards yourself to the extent that you say negative things to yourself.

Give out good to others in line with your purpose. Do volunteer work, give assistance and mentor people in line with your purpose. I am a teacher and in most of my classes I share with them things I have learnt to help them be better people apart from the academic work. I really enjoy the student development sessions at school, because I fully come alive.  It gives me fulfillment because I love it and it is part of who I am and what I was created for; to educate and encourage people on their journey of life.

Forgive yourself for the times you didn’t live your life according to

The purpose you were created. Honor your strengths and abilities instead of your weaknesses. Work along with other people so they can help you where you are weak. All in all we find our purpose in God. Colossians 1:16 For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels–everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. MSG
