God our protector

I cross a four lane road every day. The other night at around 9:00pm, I was waiting to cross the same road and when the cars on both sides had stopped I couldn’t cross the road. I kept standing still. As I was standing on the road side, a pioneer bus passed by at a relatively high speed. I hadn’t seen it because its headlights were off. It would have knocked me had I crossed the road.

Immediately it passed by, I thought of God as our protector. I believe it was God who kept me there standing yet there were no cars passing. The bus was being followed by a long trail of cars, so I had to wait again for them to pass for me to cross safely.

Have you ever been somewhere and you really want to go but you realize you are not leaving the place. Usually something takes your attention and you kind of forget that you need to go somewhere. Then after sometime you hear that something bad has happened in the area where you were heading to. I believe that is how God protects us.

Last Sunday someone shared with us a testimony about a family who were crossing the road. They all crossed to the other side but when they looked behind they saw that one of the children was still in the middle of the road and a speeding car passed by her only hitting her hair. Her body was not touched by the car, not even her head. One of the people, who saw the incident, came to the mother of the child and told her to thank God for the protection of her child.

As I thought of God’s protection over our lives, Psalm 91 came to mind. It is a very nice Psalm about God’s protection. Psalm 91:9 – 11 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
